Today I have yet another review of a wine from my friends at Naked Wines.
One of the things I love about wine is the endless varieties you can find. And this wine, from winemaker Christian Patat, introduced me to something I had not previously had the opportunity to try — the grape, pecorino. This is a native Italian grape and there’s not a lot of it planted, hence I’ve not previously come across it. This wine comes from the Terre Di Cheiti region in Abruzzo, Italy.
This is a fairly simple, but delicious Italian wine. The aromas are subtle, offering lemon, honeysuckle and a hint of tropical fruit. Vibrant acidity brings a crispness to the palate, which delivers granny smith apple, lemon and papaya. It has nice mouthfeel. The flavors reveal some pear on the finish, along with the lingering citrus.
With such bright, but not overpowering flavors, and relatively low alcohol level this makes a very food-friendly wine. It’s also something unique to add to your Wine Century Club application.
