At risk of seeming like I’m all about NakedWines.com, I have yet another review of one of their wines. I assure you I’ll move on to some other wines soon, I just happen to have a number of wines on hand from NakedWines.com.
This one is a Chablis. At times you might hear me joke that I don’t like chardonnay, but I love Chablis. In case you’re new to Chablis, it is chardonnay, but it comes from a specific region (the Chablis appellation in Burgundy, France) and it’s stylistically different that most other chardonnay. If you avoid chardonnay because you can’t stand buttery, over-oaked chardonnay don’t let that steer you away from this wine. This is totally different.
This wine is super floral/perfumey on the nose, but it also has good complexity revealing aromas such as toasted almonds, pear, citrus and flint. The palate brings a nice full mouthfeel, with vibrancy from the acidity. Lemon, almond, apple, pear and flinty mineral flavors are offered up. The finish is incredibly long and delivers lingering salty mineral and citrus flavors. This is a fantastic wine and is perfect for oysters.
